Formed in 1977, Steamtown is a museum set up to preserve Peterborough's narrow gauge railway heritage. Situated at the western end of the Main Street in what remains of the locomotive workshops you will be amazed at what Steamtown has to offer.You will be shown a varied collection of locomotives and carriages plus the only triple gauge turntable and roundhouse in Australia. There is also an extensive collection of railway memorabilia on display. Tours of the complex occur on most days and cost $5 per person.
